Common IP Mistakes SMEs Make in China

  • by

CzechCham in Shanghai held panel talk “Common IP Mistakes SMEs Make in China” which took place on 20th of October. We are glad we could host the event and have Mr. Matias Zubimendi from China IP SME Helpdesk as main speaker.

Intellectual property (IP) is the most valuable business asset SMEs have as it provides companies with comparative advantage over competitors and allows them to find their niche at the market. Appropriate IP protection and management can secure SMEs’ intangible assets and guarantee their success at the market. Likewise, poorly managed IP could mean the end of SMEs’ business endeavors in China.

Our speaker Mr. Matias Zubimendi, the IP Business Advisor at China IPR SME Helpdesk, covered the most common assumptions, misconceptions and mistakes that SMEs make related to IP when operating in China or before accessing China market.

The China IP SME Helpdesk supports European Union (EU) Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) to both protect and enforce their Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in or relating to Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan through the provision of free information and services. These take the form of jargon-free, first-line, confidential advice on intellectual property and related issues, plus training, materials and online resources.
